Vietnam-Laos solidarity highlighted

VNA 29/10/2009 - “Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts helping Laos – Symbol of the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and combat alliance” was the title of a seminar in Hanoi on Oct. 29 to mark the 60th traditional day of the volunteer force (Oct. 30).
 
About 200 delegates, including military officers, social scientists, military historians and war veterans from Vietnam and Laos attended the event.
 
Addressing the opening ceremony of the seminar, Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Trung Kien said that the significance of the special solidarity and combat alliance between the two armies and people were affirmed and became a symbol of determination, bravery and the power of solidarity.
 
Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sounthone Sayachak, on behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, expressed her deep gratitude to Vietnam for its invaluable assistance, especially the devotion of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts during their past resistance against France and the US and later during the process of national construction and development.
 
Participants at the seminar heard over 60 speeches on the revolutionary standpoints of Vietnam and Laos and the special relations between the two countries. Lieut. Gen. Sanyahak Phomvihane, Lao Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army also gave a speech./.
